We have rented paddle boards all 3 times we have visited the island and have had a great experience every time. The equipment is very nice for rental gear. We also got our snorkel gear here this trip as well and that was equally nice. I would recommend Arawak to anyone needing rental equipment during their stay.
I have taken two different trips with Arawak. The first was my first time sea kayaking. I joined a group kayak trip. We paddled and camped throughout the islands. It was wonderful. I knew not a soul and quickly made friends. I felt comfortable with the lessons and enjoyed kayaking to different places. Highly recommend the overnight. My second trip was an afternoon guided kayak trip while i was 5 months pregnant.
This is the first time I have ever written a review, but felt the need to express how horrible our guide Arthur was. My girlfriend and I went out with Arthur and had a miserable experience. Arthur acted like my girlfriend did not exist the ENTIRE 4 HOUR TRIP. He would not speak to her, nor had any interest in letting her fish. Oh, when he did speak to her he was asking her to get him his water bottle. I have been fresh water fly fishing for years and my girlfriend is new to it. The second we told him she was new to it, he had no interest in teaching her or even letting her cast. She never touched the rod. He is a fly fishing guide, that is his job to teach people who are paying him good money and he was not into it. He was completely incapable of social interaction with a women and frankly me as well. It was like Arthur had never seen or spoken to a women before, or thinks fishing is only for men. I can not believe we paid him money. And to top it off, he is the worst fishing guide i have ever seen. He is lucky he's stuck on an island because anywhere else in the world, no chance a real outfitter gives him a job, he would be laughed at. He gave no tips on casting in salt water, or even the proper way to set the hook into a tarpon. This was a miserable experience and do not trust this guy to get you into any fish or have any sort of a conversation for 4 hours on a tiny boat. Do not use them for fishing.
