DISASTER AFFECTED AREA : Schneider Regional Medical Center sustained heavy damage from Category 5 Hurricane Irma and is facing a shortage of beds due to water damage from the roof. The hospital can only provide limited inpatient care, emergency services, and dialysis to patients. In the storm’s wake, hundreds of patients was airlifted off island and more than 170 employees left after the devastation.
Don't get your hopes up coming here for a miracle. Uncompassionate staff, ridiculous wait time, unsanitary conditions, and useless health care providers. I came here twice to treat the same problem with no success. I dont know where these practitioners get their degrees but I can tell they are uneducated. Shout out to star for knowing how to draw blood correctly. The lady I had before her poked three holes in my arm before Star could get it right. The nurses who came in from the states are uncompassionate too. You will leave in a worse condition than the one you can in.
As I was waiting in the ER room, all of the employees were on their phones, not paying attention to the patients. No sense of urgency here. Also, I had to ask the “security“ guard TWICE to turn off the video he had on speaker with his phone. It was a video of a women screaming at her child and you could hear the child being beaten and screaming. What kind of employees do you have here. BTW, clean up the damn hospital, it’s dirty as hell.
We show up first at the ER on a Saturday morning at 7:50am and ended up walking out at 1:00pm to go pay for after hour fees at a private practice. No one at this hospital/Veterinarian would even talk to us to give us an update on time to wait to see the doctor. Just shove you in a room to wait 6 hours. I wouldn’t take my dog to this so called hospital. Besides that the doctor was very rude to us. Nasty. 0- Stars would be my rating.
If you have a serious illness, hire Aero M.D. and go to the States immediately. The urgent care Clinic in foothills behind the Hospital is a much safer alternative if you absolutely, positively need emergency medical care on the island. Would consider flying to the States rather than going to Schneider if I was dying of a gunshot wound.
