::Been doing business in the VI for a long time. This is the first time I've used Dependable. They are excellent and have solid, nice cars, well maintained and flexible rates depending on your needs. Kishma, who pretty much manages the reservations, etc., is the best. She keeps things moving, while following up with emailed questions, reservations, etc.

::Overcrowded and nothing but little cars that most are dented and worn out

::I am not writing this to bash this company, but my experience must be shared for my own peace of mind. I chose to rent from dependable because of their prices and positive reviews online. What i got was far from what I expected . I arrived and picked up my car and immediately knew I didn't have a quality vehicle. I left with the car as I hadn't had much time to process all that was truly going on. The car was scratched and dented, missing speakers, covered with zip ties holding things in place, had leather seats ( Not stock ) that had a huge metal bar coming up the side which was extremely uncomfortable, the back of the jeep wouldn't lock securely, and a check engine light was on the whole time ( they told me it was okay, but still unnerving). All of these things I was willing to overlook as I was renting a used jeep afterall. However, there were issues that I wasn't and will not be willing to overlook. The second day, the drivers seat belt became detached from its securement device. The only thing attached to the drivers seatbelt was the safety wires that create the alarm if not buckled. I had to drive with the seatbelt bucked in order to keep the alarm from going off, but had absolutely no safety with a seatbelt. Also the front seats had very hard plastic head rests. In the event of an accident it would be less than ideal. The other huge safety issue involved the back seat. Th1e back seat is supposed to clip down into securement brackets. The brackets were so rusted and literally crumbling , that there was no way to secure the back seat in the vehicle . Every time we went over a bump the entire back seat came forward. As you can imagine, our passengers were less than impressed. All of these things were concerning and frustrating. This vehicle should have never left the shop for a rental. I did call when my seatbelt broke and I asked for a new vehicle. They did not have any others available for rent . They said I could come have the seatbelt repaired, but it would involve removing the seats and would take several hours. I was staying in St. John for my trip and it didn't make sense for me to come back. I don't know that I would have felt confident in a repaired seatbelt anyways. The way the other issues were repaired, I wasn't sure it would be the safest repair. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't write this post and something happened to someone else. I recommend looking for a different company and paying the extra money. Safety has no price. I wanted to post the pictures I have of the vehicle, but see no place here. I will post them when I find a way.
